Care instructions

Pencils

They are finished with a protective lacquer layer which makes the pieces less prone to scratches as well as waterproof.
However, if your piece gets wet, allow it to dry and buffer with a soft cloth only.If there is minor damage, likescratch es, you could reseal it with a thin layer of bees/furniture wax applied with a soft cloth in circular motion to restore it.

 Acrylic paint and artist’s canvases

It is being finish with a hardwearing lacquer that adds protection to the surface. However, care needs to be taken to avoid chipping and scratching.  Wipe it down with a lightly damp cloth or a rubber to remove dirt, surface marks. The lacquer used also has uv filters which helps with avoiding the pigments in the paint to fade.

For pieces combined with silver plated metals

Do not use silver dip as this would remove the silver layer of your piece as this is a thin coat usually not thicker than 0.1 micromillimeter. Use a soft, dry cloth to rub gently the plated metal to a shine.

For pieces combined with silver and other materials

Do not use silver dip! Carefully restore to a polished finish using a silver cloth and rub gently until the silver part is shiny again. For a matt finish rub with a scourer taking care of other materials around it.

Oxidised silver

It is silver that has been treated with a chemical solution to give a dark grey/black finish patina. This does wear away over time, particularly in exposed or handed often areas, like earring wires, which adds to the character and uniqueness of the piece.

Do not place oxidised silver items in a silver dip or use a silver cloth as this will remove this patina. If you want to restore it to its original darkness dipping it into this solution again is the only way, therefore please get back in touch.

Glued bits and pieces

Most of our joints and connections between materials, silver and other metals are reinforced with epoxy glue which forms a strong bond. If something does break, a glue-like Araldite or Devcon can be used to repair the connection.
